Background

Vaishnavi Sashidharan is a Research assistant at the Industrial Psychology and Human Factors at the Centre for Robotics and Assembly. She joined ÌúÅ£ÊÓÆµ in 2023, prior to which she completed her MSc in Psychological Research at the University of Edinburgh (2021-2022).

Research opportunities

Vaishnavi's research interests are in the area of Human Factors in Industrial Human-Robot collaboration. Her research is centred around the assessment of industrial operators' needs and preferences for working in smart-production systems with collaborative robots. Her research focuses on employing co-creation methods, investigating operators' user-experience, and identification of training and skill requirments.

Current activities

Within the Industrial Psychology and Human Factors group (IPHF), Vaishnavi works on the CONVERGING project (Home | CONVERGING | EU Funded Project). Her role within this project focuses the on the acceptance and wellbeing of operators in manufacturing who are working collaboratively with robots and other smart-assistive technologies such as AR/VR tools, digital twins, smart watches and AGVs, in diverse production environments. Vaishnavi is employing a range of qualitative and quantitative methods in conjunction with physiological measures to estimate key psychological safety factors and ensure iterative operator engagement in the design and deployment of these new smart-production systems.
