Contact Dr Deirdre Anderson

Background

A Chartered Occupational Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, Deirdre is currently a Visiting Fellow in the Faculty of Business and Management, ÌúÅ£ÊÓÆµ University.

She has previously held senior positions within academia, including Director of the Gender, Leadership and Inclusion Centre and Director of the Executive MBA at ÌúÅ£ÊÓÆµ, vice-chair of the EDI Committee for the Chartered Association of Business Schools, Head of Department, People and Organizations at the University of Lincoln Business School, and Director of the Eleanor Glanville Centre at Lincoln: an interdisciplinary centre linking diversity mandates and initiatives with research and scholarly activities across the University. Deirdre’s research interests encompass inclusive leadership, gendered careers, working practices, and the relationship of work, family and cultural context.

Deirdre has successfully supervised eight doctoral students to completion (both PhD and DBA) and has acted as external examiner for PhDs at Queen Mary University, Manchester Business School, London School of Economics, Warwick University and Bradford University and also at Curtin University and University of New England in Australia. In addition, she has supervised over 25 Masters students to completion of their theses in HRM and related management topics. Deirdre has taught on a range of programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Human Resource Management (HRM), Organizational Behaviour, Business Psychology and Qualitative Research Methods.

She continues to work in executive development; her expertise lies in women’s leadership development programmes and inclusive leadership, working with senior leaders in organizations to address the systemic and structural barriers that can hinder career advancement and limit the impact and intention of individual actions and organizational practices. She has designed and delivered such programmes for global organizations in Asia, Europe, West Africa, Middle East and North America.

Prior to obtaining her PhD in Management at ÌúÅ£ÊÓÆµ and moving into academia, Deirdre spent over 20 years working within organizations as a business psychology consultant. Her educational background includes an MSc in Occupational and Organizational Psychology from the University of East London, and a Masters in Research Methods from ÌúÅ£ÊÓÆµ, as well as a BSc (Hons) in Business Studies from the University of Bradford.
